Last week I saw a screening of the upcoming movie Admission, starring Tina Fey and Paul Rudd. They are two of my favorite actors and always make me laugh so I was pretty sure the movie would be funny. However I had no idea how moving it would also turn out to be.
In Admission, Tina Fey plays Portia, a workaholic admissions officer at Princeton University. Paul Rudd's character, John, runs an alternative high school in New Hampshire and went to the same college as Portia. And Lily Tomlin plays Portia's mother.
The movie is labeled as a romantic comedy and it is extremely funny and romantic. But I especially loved the parenting situations and lessons. There were three sets - John and his adopted 9 year old son, Portia and her mother and Portia and the high school senior from John's school, who Portia discovers is her son, and then does everything she can to try to get him into Princeton. These situations were the heart of the Admission.
Admission opens in theaters everywhere on March 22, 2013. Don't miss it.

I saw this preview and thought it looked really good. Thanks for the review!

ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to see this film! Ever since I saw the first trailer I knew it'd be a great date night movie.
ReplyDeleteI saw the trailer this weekend and definitely want to see this!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to Admission for two reasons - it was filmed at our kids' high school and it is a subject that is top of mind, with 11th graders at home.
ReplyDeleteJennifer, I love these actors too (esp Tina Fey) and am excited to see Admission. Plus, it was filmed at our children's high school and, with 11th graders at our two houses, college admission is a hot topic for our two families. Thanks for your review.
