Kim Dickens (Treme, The Blind Side) is Marie's sister Le Ann, divorced and raising her 16 year old daughter Kelli who is having trouble dealing with the pressures of boys and school. Le Ann has difficulty dealing with Le Ann and often has to turn to her sister for help.
When Kelli suspects that Elizabeth's boyfriend is abusing her, no one will believe her. Elizabeth would never go out with anyone like that. However, as matters escalate, Kelli and Le Ann are now there to help Jane.

Raising only teenage sons, I've never seen the teen girl side of things as a parent. Sure I've heard countless stories from friends, but it isn't the same. It really is much more difficult being a teenage girl in today's culture than it was when I was growing up. However, that doesn't mean that parents of boys don't have to deal with these issues. It is incumbent upon us to talk to our sons about how to treat girls and what is wrong. That is why in the title of this article I wrote "must watch movie for parents and teens", not "moms and daughters".
The actors playing the roles of the two girls and the boyfriend, Rebecca Williams, Carleigh Beverly and Nick Thurston, were exceptional. I was very moved by the movie. Reviving Ophelia makes a very strong message about the problems teenage girls face, especially dating abuse. Watch it on Lifetime, premiering October 11, 2010.
