With August almost a third over, that means Back to School time is near. While my kids never looked forward to summer ending and going back to school, I always dreaded Back to School shopping. We always waited until the last minute, never planned well and therefore were very stressed. Here are some Back to School tips to help you have a much easier and more productive shopping experience than I ever did: (Also, see below for ways your teens can donate supplies with help from celebrities)
1. Even though your kids might not get their supplies list until the first day of school, you can still shop in advance for anything you know you will need, such as backpacks, paper, pens, pencils, folders, etc.
2. Don't forget about online shopping. If you hate waiting on long lines, and who doesn't, you can order almost everything from your favorite brick and mortar store or Amazon, online. Staples has fast and FREE delivery on all orders over $50.
3. For information on Eco-friendly supplies, go to Yahoo! Green for the article, Today's Lesson: Green School Supplies.
4. Do you have a teen going off to college for the first time. Staples has a checklist for college school supplies and Bed, Bath & Beyond has a checklist for everything you might possibly need to outfit your teen's dorm room.
5. Are you having trouble deciding what computer, backpack, etc to buy your teens for the new school year? Check out Yahoo! Shopping for the Top 10 picks in their back to school guide.
Staples has two charitable programs that teens can take part it with help from celebrities:
1. DoSomething.org - Staples and DoSomething.org are hosting a School Supply Drive this summer. Just drop off school supplies at any of 101 collection bins at any Staples store across the U.S. Go to the webpage for much more information, including a video PSA from Nikki Reed (Twilight, The O.C., Thirteen).
2. Join a Staples Give-Back Pack to learn how easy it is to do something for local kids in need by running your own school supply drive. You can even win a chance to meet Kelly Pickler, Jason Derulo, or Drake Bell.
Good luck shopping for all of your kids and teens Back to School needs.
Full Disclosure: I am part of the Yahoo Motherboard and was sent the Yahoo links above as suggestions to use in a back to school story. My use of them was totally optional. I also attended a Staples event in which I was shown and was given some staples school supplies. I was not required to write about Staples and did so because I was very impressed with their programs.
