Flash Sideways
1. Jack wakes up and is puzzled by a cut on his neck now (before it was an appendix scar). At breakfast with his son David we learn that they are going to a concert that night and David's mother will be there. Who will she be? I am sure it is someone we know. They only people that I can guess is either Sarah or Juliet.
2. Desmond places a fake call to Jack telling him that the airlines found his father's coffin. A way to meet up with Jack.
3. Desmond visits Locke's school again and Ben runs to his car to stop him from harming Locke. Desmond beats Ben until memories of being beaten by Desmond in the past flood his brain.
4. Ben goes to the school nurse to get patched up and Locke enters. Ben tells him, "The strangest thing happened. While he was beating me I think I saw something." When Locke tries to call the police, Ben stops him and says, "The man told me he wasn't trying to hurt you, he was trying to get you to let go".
5. At the police station, Miles tells Sawyer he is going to a concert at his father's museum, the same concert that Jack and family are attending. We also find out that Charlotte will be there. Desmond enters the station and surrenders to Sawyer for running down Locke and beating Ben. He is place in a cell next to Kate and Sayid. When Desmond sees them there a big smile comes over his face. His plan is proceeding as planned.
6. When school lets out, Alex sees Ben's bruises and says, "Why would someone try and hurt you. You're like the nicest guy ever" (in this timeline he actually is). She offers to have her mom drive him home. We now see a very sane, put-together Danielle. They invite Ben over to dinner and Danielle says, "We insist, even if we have to kidnap you", a call out to the season 2 episode where Danielle caught Ben/Henry Gale in her net and to Ben kidnapping Alex.
7. At dinner Daniel tells Ben, "Alex's father died when she was two. You are the closest thing to a father she's ever had". If the sideways world is where each of the Losties get what they most wanted, then Ben definitely got his wish to have his daughter Alex back.
8. Locke visits Jack in his office. Locke brings up that they were on the same flight and that even though he threw away Jack's card, he still wound up in Jack's care after the accident. He also tells him about what Ben said about Desmond and letting go. Then Locke used a favorite Lost line, "Maybe this is happening for a reason. Maybe you are supposed to fix me". Jack replies with another heavily used Lost line, "Mr. Locke, maybe you are mistaking coincidence for fate". This one conversation touched on major lost themes. It seems that Jack and Locke keep switching back and forth which one of them believes in fate and which doesn't. They never seem to be on the same side.
9. Sawyer opens the jail cells of Kate, Sayid and Desmond to ship them to county. Kate tries to talk Sawyer into letting her go but it doesn't work, he resists Kate's charms. I think this is because his biggest wish is to be with Juliet, not Kate. I am hoping that he meets her in the flash sideways during the finale.
10. Desmond bribed a corrupt Ana Lucia to break them out of the truck. Hurley shows up with the bribe money. He knows who Ana Lucia is. After that kiss with Libby, he must have gotten all his island memories back. Ana Lucia has no idea who any of them are. Hurley takes Sayid while Desmond takes Kate. They are all going to meet at the Concert!
Regular Island Timeline
1. While Jack is tending to Kate's wounds on the beach, She tells him, "Jin never had the chance to meet his daughter. Locke did this. We have to kill him, Jack". Jack agrees.
2. Jack tells Sawyer, Kate and Hurley that they need to find Desmond in the well that Sayid told them about because, "if Locke wants Desmond dead, then we're going to need him".
3. Ben, Miles and Richard are back. Its been a few episodes. They are on their way to Ben's house in New Otherton to get explosives. When Miles questions Ben's directional skills, Ben says that he lived in these houses a long time. Miles says, "Well I lived in these houses 30 years before ou did, otherwise known as last week, and I have no idea where the hell we are".
4. When they reach the area where the houses are Miles senses the dead ("I get wonky around dead stuff"). Richard tells Ben that he buried Alex there after Ben left.
5. Ben has the dynamite in his secret room. He tells them, "Its where I was told I could summon the monster. That's before I realized that it was the one summoning me." When he finds the dynamite he says to Richard, "Are you looking to cripple the plane or blow it to hell". Richard chooses the latter so Ben takes it all.
6. They hear a noise in the kitchen. It is Zoe. They have never met so Ben asks who she is. Widmore comes out and says, "She's with me. Hello Benjamin, May I come in?" Ben appears shocked to see him.
7. Ben asks why Widmore is there. Widmore tell Ben, "If you shoot me your last chance of survival will be gone". Ben asks Widmore how he got back to the Island and Widmore replies "Jacob invited me. He visited me not long after your people destroyed my freighter. He convinced me of the error of my ways. He told me everything I need to know for this exact purpose." When Ben asks what purpose, Widmore has no time to reply because Locke is near. Widmore and Zoe decide to hide, Miles runs and Richard and Ben decide to face him. Ben gives Miles a walkie talkie, "in case I need you".
8. While Jack and Sawyer are looking for the well, Sawyer feels guilty. He says, "I killed them, didn't I?" Unlike Sawyer who blamed Jack for Juliet's death, Jack lets Sawyer off the hook by saying, "No, he killed them".
9. Hurley then sees young Jacob and follows him. Young Jacob tells Hurley to give him the ashes he took from Illana's things after she died. Hurley hands them over and the boy runs. Hurley chases him and comes upon adult Jacob sitting by a fire. He tells Hurley, "My ashes are right there in that fire. When it burns out you'll never see me again. You should get your friends, we are very close to the end, Hugo". The end of the Island battle and the end of Lost. I guess the finale is aptly named "The End".
10. Locke arrives at the dock and walks towards Ben's house. Richard walks towards Locke because "I know this man, all he wants is for me to join him. If I can get him to leave with me, maybe that will give the rest of you a chance." Boy was he wrong. All of a sudden we see and hear smokey and he lifts Richard up and throws him. I'm assuming he's dead.
11. Locke then approaches Ben on the porch. Ben asks Locke, "Can I get you a glass of lemonade? Ha. Locke says, "I need you to kill some people for me Ben". Ben asks why he would do that and Locke replies, "because when I leave this island, you can have it all to yourself". Ben has always wanted to be in charge of the Island and says alright and leads him to where Widmore and Zoe are hiding ("he's hiding in my closet").
12. Locke and Ben enter the secret closet, although Locke wanted Ben to wait outside saying "You don't have to see this". Ben replied, "I want to see this". He is finally getting revenge on Widmore. When Widmore tells Zoe not to talk, Locke slits her throat. "You told her not to talk to me and that made her pointless". Locke threatens to kill Widmore's daughter Penny if he doesn't tell Locke why he came back to the island. He swears he won't hurt her if he gets the information he wants. Widmore tells Locke that he brought Desmond Hume back to the island as a measure of last resort. He refuses to say any more in front of Ben. Widmore begins to whisper to Locke and Ben shoots Widmore dead and says "He doesn't get to save his daughter". He has wanted Penny dead since Alex was killed. Then Ben says, "Didn't you say there were some other people to kill?" Unless this is an act, Ben is completely turned back to his mean old self.
13. Hurley brings Kate, Sawyer and Jack to Jacob. He is surprised that they can all see him also. Jacob greets them all by name. Kate asks, "So you're the ones that wrote our names of the wall. Is that why they are dead?" Jacob replies, "I'm very sorry". Kate says, "I want to know why, I want to know that Sun, Jin and Sayid didn't die for nothing." Jacob then says the words we want to hear, "Come and sit down and I'll tell you what they died for. I'll tell you why I chose them and why I chose you. And I'll tell you everything you need to know about protecting this island because by the time that fire burns out, one of you is going to have to start doing it." Answers, are we going to get answers?
14. Hurley asks why Jacob brought them all to the Island. Jacob says, "I brought all of you here because I made a mistake a very long time ago, and now there's a chance that all of you and everyone you care about will die". When Sawyer asks what mistake, Jacob says, "You call him the monster and I'm responsible for what happened to him. I made him that way and ever since then he's been trying to kill me. It was only a matter of time until he figured out how. When he did, someone would have to replace me and thats why I brought you all here." He explains that he chose them because none of them were doing fine. They were all flawed and alone and were looking for something they couldn't find. "I chose you because you needed this place as much as it needed you".
15. When Kate asked why her name was crossed out, Jacob said, "because you became a mother. It's just a line of chalk in a cave. The job is yours if you want it Kate." He explains that the job is protecting the light in the island from ever going out. It must be protected from him. Jacob adds "You must do what I could never do". Jack asks, "You want us to kill him? Is that even possible". Jacob replies, "I hope so because he is certainly going to try to kill you."
16. Jacob says that he isn't going to pick one of them. "I want you to have the one thing that I was never given, a choice". Mother had thrust the job upon him even though he said he didn't want it. Jack volunteers to do it. "This is why I'm here, this is what I'm supposed to do". Jacob says, "good, because its time".
17. Jacob led them to where they needed to go for Jack take over. When Jack and Jacob walked ahead, Sawyer said, "and I thought that guy had a god complex before" of Jack.
18. Jacob tells Jack what he has to do and then they drink the water. Jack asks how long he must do this job and Jacob replies as long as he can. Just as mother said to Jacob many years ago, Jacob now says to Jack, "You are now like me". I guess that means that Jack won't age anymore.
19. Ben and Locke walk through the jungle and Ben asks why Locke walks instead of just being smoke all the time. Locke says he likes to feel what its like to be human again. They come upon the well and see that Sayid didn't kill Desmond. Ben said, "It seems like someone helped him out", but Locke replies, "No, someone helped me out" Ben wants to know what Widmore said to him. Locke tells him that "he said that Desmond was a fail safe. Jacob's last resort in case I managed to kill all his beloved candidates. One final way to make sure that I never leave this place. I'm going to find Desmond and when I do he's going to help me to destroy the island"!!
