Will your teens be taking the SATs or PSATs this year? Do they have problems studying for vocabulary tests for English class? Reading lists of words can be very boring and it can be easy to lost concentration. Brainyflix is a website that has made it fun to learn vocabulary. It is also done in a way that will make the words easier to remember.
Learning vocabulary on Brainyflix is done with pictures and videos which are submitted by users. When a picture is used, the word and a sentence describing the word which relates to the picture appear below. Because the videos can vary drastically in quality (one that I watched was way too long), users vote on them after viewing. Since there are often many videos for each word, teens can choose to only watch the higher rated videos. If you don't trust the ratings, there is also a section for Editors Picks.
Brainyflix is a free website run by two MIT alums. The site receives support from MIT. There have been a few nationwide contests for students to create videos that have been funded by Salesforce, a customer relationship management firm.
