The Green Teen: The Eco-Friendly Teen's Guide to Saving the Planet by Jenn Savage is a wonderful book for teens to read and use to help save our planet. It is one of the most organized and easy to use books I've encountered. And she starts off by explaining to teens that since it will be them and their children that will be most affected by the effects of the environment, they need to be involved in trying to fix it.

The book is divided into five areas that teens can try to do something about:
  • Global Warming
  • Air Pollution
  • Deforestation
  • Sweatshops
  • The Planet
Within each of these areas the author discusses the problem, its cause, the effect of the problem and how to fix it. These are actually short chapters written mostly to educate teens about the problems. The fixes are actually discussed in more detail in the more detailed type areas below:
  • Green Yourself
  • Green Your Home
  • Green Your School
  • Green Your World
In each of these sections, teens are given detailed, yet easy to read: shopping guides, lessons on label reading, answers to "why bother?", green tips, tips to get parents involved and more. There are also interviews with teens that are already green. The Green Teen is filled with pictures and lists to keep it very manageable. I highly recommend giving this book to any and all teenagers. It is very motivating, will help our planet and will help make the next generation more responsible to our planet than we have been.
