Eminem - Making a Comeback and Telling All

Friday, October 17, 2008

Just a few years ago Eminem was one of the biggest stars in the music industry. He even crossed over into movies and won an Academy Award. It seemed like Eminem was on top of the world. And then he just disappeared. In that time, he has written a memoir The Way I Am that will be on sale this month. It is also rumored that he is making a fifth studio album. Radar Magazine has a feature story, Eminem in Exile, by Douglas Century, with all the details of what Eminem has been doing the last few years. The magazine is on stands now (not yet online).

With all of the money that Eminem made, he never moved far from where he grew up. He lives in a mansion just 20 miles north of the Detroit town in which he was raised. He has become a hermit living a life very similar to the life that Elvis Presley lived during his last few years. Eminim's estranged mother said that her son is unrecognizable due to tremendous weight gain.

The story in Radar magazine also chronicles the ups and downs of Eminem's relationship with his ex-wife Kim and the effects that being a father to Hallie had on him. The description of Eminem's childhood was very difficult for me to read. He did not have it easy.

So the question now is, will Eminem really make a comeback? Will he just sell his book and not emerge in public or will he fully be back? Will he still have the star power that he used to have? What do you think?

  1. He did have a difficult childhood and even with the success he's had, it seems the ties to his early experiences still affect him now. I wish him luck with his career, he doesn't seem like a bad guy, just misguided.

  6. I really hate to admit it, lest someone revoke my card-carrying status as a metalhead, but I'd totally read his memoir... from the library.

  7. He is excellent! I wondered where he had gone. I wouldn't mind reading his book actually.

    Excellent article!

  8. I hope he can come back. I'll save my nickels so I can buy the next album. Maybe I can find some change in all the foreclosed houses and use that.
