There is something for everyone on finding Dulcinea: Librarian of the Internet. The website has three areas, Web Guides, Beyond the Headlines and Netcetera. You can get to all of them from the home page.

The Web Guides are meticulously researched annotations on hundreds of topics. Some examples on the front page right now are Chocolate, Learning German, New York for Students and Interns and Beijing Olympics 2008. There is also an index at the bottom of the page to find all of the web guide topics.

Beyond the Headlines "provides background and context to news headlines, including historical, academic and local perspectives". A few current examples are "Exercise Pill Works on Mice, But Will it Work on Men?" and "Journalist Says U.S. Considered Framing Iran to Start War".

The Netcetera section is filled with items of Interest pulled from around the Internet. Some examples on today's front page are "What's Next for Nike?" and "Must-See Video: Starry Night in 3-D". This section also includes Happy Birthdays, TV to see, shopping, travel, and other regular features.

There is also a Topics page. This is great if you are interested in a particular topic and don't care if it is discussed in a Web Guide, Beyond the Headlines or Netcetera. Some topics are discussed in two or all three areas, and they will all be brought up when you click on the topic name. This is a well done, well written website. Since it is researched and written by librarians, I wouldn't expect anything less.

I realize I'm a couple of posts behind but just had to comment on Dulcinea. I've never seen it before but having taken some time to explore it, I love it! I'm going to make a point of showing it to my teenage daughter. Dulcinea seems to be a reliable resource for teens who are not naturally academically inclined. Some kids just don't like dealing with the heavy stuff. But, on Dulcinea, information is presented in an inviting, easy to navigate way.
