As soon as I took one look at this week's (#1002 7/18/2008) Entertainment Weekly magazine, I knew I had to get right to my computer and send out a message to all Twilight fans. Not only is there an article about Twilight, but it is the cover story. The article is titled "The Twilight Saga: Inside author Stephenie Meyer's vampire empire: From the final novel, 'Breaking Dawn,' to an exclusive look at the first movie". The story is nine pages long.
If you are a parent reading this, and your teenager is a fan of the Twilight series, you might win big points with her (or him) by buying this issue of the magazine.

My daughter is hooked on this series. I guess my big concern is the occult-ish undercurrent that runs throughout - like being a vampire or associating with vampires is cool. There are people who claim they are vampires and that sector of society is, to my way of thinking, dangerous.
Do I worry too much?
Just found your site. Subbing now!
I wouldn't worry. For some reason, people are drawn to vampires in fiction. Look at the success of Dracula, the Anne Rice novels and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I think they just make a great story.
you shouldn't worry! vampires in stephenie meyer's world aren't creepy like dracula or buffy. they are unbelieveably good! i know it probably sound really stupid to you, "who falls in love with a vampire?" but i think Bella falls for him not only because he's gorgeous, but because he's from 1901, they had manners back then! they treated girls like ladys. they just don't make guys like Edward anymore. if you still worry, then i think you should read the books. You'll have something to talk about with your daughter. I wish my mom would read the books. :( so really, don't worry

twilight is great, it's a fantasy, something girls will read and will only dream of.. the truth is Edward Cullen does not exist ( i'm sorry girls ) but what's the harm in wishing this was true? infact i think in some ways it will make girls have higher standards in the men they choose to be with....
