Many people that I've spoken to lately think that because they don't own an Amazon Kindle or a tablet such as an iPad with a Kindle app, they can't buy or read Kindle ebooks. They are completely mistaken. Amazon offers FREE Kindle apps for both the PC and the Mac, so that everyone can take advantage of eBooks.

Amazon makes it simple to download and use the free Kindle apps. Here is the page to download the Kindle for the PC. However, if you are not very tech savvy and want to be walked through it step by step, Amazon has a page, Getting Started with Kindle for PC, which helps you with every step along the way. In addition to downloading the app, this page walks you through setting up your Amazon account if you don't already have one and how to use Kindle gift cards.

Mac owners can find the same two pages, the Kindle Mac download page, and the Getting Started with the Kindle Mac.

After you've bought you first book and are ready to start reading, Amazon has more help pages for you. On the web pages, Using Kindle for PC and Using Kindle for Mac, you can learn about page numbers, navigation tools, using the dictionary, customizing your reading, highlights and notes and much, much more.

Did you already know about the free Kindle apps for the computer? If not, will you now download the app and begin buying and reading eBooks?

There is no debating that teens are addicted to their cell phones. Most teens use their phones 24/7 and texting is their main form of communication. Take a look at this infographic created for OnlineSchools.com based on the latest Nielsen data on teens' mobile activity.

Cougar Town is returning for its third season on Tuesday, February 14th, at 8:30pm on ABC. If you are a fan, I know you will return, but if you haven't been watching Cougar Town, here is why you should.

Cougar Town is one of the funniest comedies on television yet many people aren't watching. Why? Because of one mistake, that the creator, Bill Lawrence, will regret to his dying day - naming the show "Cougar Town". The original concept of Courtney Cox as a cougar was changed before the first season was half way over, but it was too late to change the public's perception.

Cougar Town is NOT a show about Cougars. It is a show about adult friends drinking wine and being funny. Picture Friends, a little older, with Scrubs mentality.

I saw the Cougar Town cast speak at a Panel at the Paley Center for Media NY the other day and I didn't stop laughing the entire time. Two  episodes from the new season were shown and they were excellent. Cougar Town just continues to get better and better. My husband, who had not watched before because of the whole "cougar" mentality, has now become a fan after the Paley Center episodes.

How could anyone not love Cougar Town with this amazing cast:
  • Courtney Cox - Monica in Friends!!!!
  • Christa Miller - Jordan in Scrubs
  • Busy Philipps - Kim in Freaks and Geeks
  • Brian Van Holt - Butchie in John From Cincinnati
  • Dan Byrd - Brandon in Easy A
  • Ian Gomez - Javier in Felicity
  • Josh Hopkins - Roger in Swingtown
If you are a fan of Sarah Chalke of Scrubs and Ted's girlfriend on How I Met Your Mother, you'll definitely want to tune into Cougar Town this season. And while Sarah will have a big role on the show, don't be surprised to see many cameo appearances by some of your favorite Scrubs alumni.

So what will you get from watching the new season of Cougar Town beginning tomorrow night, February 14th on ABC? You will have fun watching likable funny characters and you will laugh, a lot!

In between all the articles that you see on violence in video games, you may have noticed an occasional article on a benefit or two. However, you might be surprised to learn that there are so many benefits to playing video games that they can change your life and the world you live in. I have just published a new book, The Gamer Generation: Reaping the Benefits of Video Games, that takes a look at the many studies and articles from the past decade to bring to light the real truth about video games.

These are the topics that The Gamer Generation covers:
  • Social Benefits
  • Physical and Health Benefits
  • The Other side of the Violent Video Game argument
  • Cognitive Benefits
  • Video Games in Education
  • Educational Value of Creating Video Games
  • Business and Careers
  • Serious Video Games
  • Family Connections
The book also includes many resources for those that want to learn more on the topic.

Eventually video games will be taken more seriously. The word "game" still makes that difficult, and the fact that  baby boomers did not grow up with them and still look at them as a kids toy. However, as you will see in The Gamer Generation: Reaping the Benefits of Video Games, the advances that games are making in healthcare, education and many other areas are getting too big to ignore.
