1. ClimateCounts.org - Climate Count rates companies on their climate impact, and ranks them against their competitors, so that consumers can support companies serious about climate change and avoid those that are not.
2. GreenMap.org - The Green Map system supports locally-led Green Map projects as they create perspective-changing community ‘portraits’ which act as comprehensive inventories for decision-making and as practical guides for residents and tourists. Green Map offers adaptable tools and universal iconography to the local mapmakers. Open Green Map was recently created to allow anyone to add their insights, images and impacts to their local green maps.
3. The Human Impacts Institute - This organization's mission is to:
- Promote creativity in environmental sustainability
- Make the environment personal
- Share awareness of, and accountability for, the environment
- Inspire individuals and communities to take action for sustainable environment
- Act as facilitators for sustainable programs
- Strengthen connections and collaboration between societal actors
- Develop leadership and educational initiatives
4. Recycle Bowl Competition - This competition was created in an effort to invigorate student participation in recycling in a national competition for students in grades K-12. It has increased recycling in schools and provided teaching opportunities about recycling.
5. Keep America Beautiful - The mission of this organization is to engage individuals to take greater responsibility for improving their community environments.The website has a great Kids Zone page to help kids get involved with helping the environment.
6. Moms Clean Air Force - Moms Clean Air Force is national movement of more than 50,000 moms and dads who are protecting our children’s right to clean air. The organization is harnessing the strength of mother love, with mom bloggers leading the way, to fight back against pollution.

1. Call2Recycle - Provides free battery and cell phone recycling throughout North America. Just drop off your phones and batteries at any Call2Recycle collection location.

2. NYC recycle more, waste less! - This NYC government website is a one stop source for all NYC recycling, waste prevention and composting information.
3. NYC Stuff Exchange - This NYC government website offers a quick and simple way for NYC residents to search for places locally where they can donate, sell, buy, rent, or repair antiques, vintage items, artifacts, and other gently used goods. The goal of the Exchange is to help lessen the City’s waste by encouraging the salvage and reuse of materials that might otherwise be discarded as trash.
4. Film Biz Recycling - A unique not-for-profit organization, creating socially responsible and sustainable solutions from media industry waste. NYC film, TV, theater and other media companies donate excess materials, props, wardrobes, etc. to Film Biz Recycling to re-purpose. These items are then either donated to those in need, donated to local charities, used in community building initiatives, sold to media fans, and recycled throughout the media production industry. Check out the retail boutique, known as the prop shop, for items you can purchase at their Brooklyn location.
